The third level is Shinpiden (or ‘Mystery Teachings’) where students receive initiation for Reiki Third Degree (Reiki 3) to become a Shihan or Reiki Master that gives them power to initiate others to Reiki. In the Usui-Tibetan Reiki system2 (more about it in the next page), Reiki 3 is divided into two levels as Reiki 3A, also called ‘Advanced Reiki Training’ (ART), and Reiki 3B, the Master-Teacher level. The reason for this approach is that many students have no inclination to become a Reiki Master-Teacher, but want to advance their Reiki practice using additional tools of empowerment offered in Reiki 3A course, including the Master symbol. Moreover, should they later decide to become a Reiki Master-Teacher, the Reiki 3A immensely supports them in their preparation for Reiki 3B.
Pre-requisite:
- at least 3 years regular practice of Reiki 1 and 2 healings
- sound knowledge about Reiki 1 and Reiki 2
- actively involved in humanitarian service activities
- regular meditations
