“Asato Ma Sadgamaya.” Lead me from the Unreal to the Real

“𝗔𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗮.” 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡. — Brihadaranyaka Upanishad

Good morning, dear friends. So Hum.

In the spiritual tradition, saints are known as Hamsa, Hansa, or Hans — and hence the revered title ‘Paramahansa’. They are seen as embodiments of purity, wisdom, and inner freedom. In contrast, worldly-minded people are often compared to crows — symbolising attachment, restlessness, and lower desires.

The Hamsa is described as a sacred, celestial bird — blessed with the ability to separate milk from water and pearls from pebbles.

This represents ‘Viveka’ — the power of deep discernment. It symbolises the wisdom to see:

  •  The Real within the Unreal
  •  The Formless (Vichitra) within the Form (Chitra)
  •  Virtues amidst Vices
  •  Blessings hidden within Disguises

This is the heart of the spiritual journey — seeing clearly, choosing wisely, and living consciously.

May we become the Holy Hans.

Have a blessed day.

 So Hum.

🙏
